YOGA & DANCE

We have a beautiful, intimate space at Aroha, Grey Lynn for our Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Yoga Nidra and healing Bellydance classes.

Our Yoga classes are taught by passionate and dedicated teachers who are very individual in their approach with each participant learning exactly what they need.

Rosanna teaches her healing Bellydance class for intermediate level ladies every Tuesday at 6pm at Aroha Love, and holds short beginners courses each term at the Auckland women’s centre in Grey Lynn on Friday evenings.

Aroha Dance classes are designed to connect women to their bodies in a fun, healing and holistic way.

 



 

AROHA DANCE



Aroha Dance is a beautiful combination of Aroha (Love), bellydance, tantra philosophy, mudra and sisterhood. Join us to awaken your feminine energy, for grounding and connection to your body, seeing your body as a sacred and beautiful space.

Rosanna teaches women how to awaken their femininity and sensuality in a caring, safe and fun way. Learn about your chakra system, how to activate these energy centres through dance, breathwork, mudra and simple, earthy Egyptian bellydance routines that are so much fun.

Tuesday classes are for ladies who have experienced bellydance classes previously and have a good understanding of the technique.

Friday classes are for beginners and are a great way to learn the technique.

Friday evening Bellydance class is held at the Auckland Women’s Centre, 4 Warnock Street, Grey Lynn (West Lynn shops). Rosanna teaches in blocks each term. The schedule for the Auckland Women’s Centre is below.

Our intention for Yoga classes at Aroha, is to provide an inspiring, intimate, relaxing and beautiful space for your inner journey. Our amazing Yoga teachers fully support you in wellness for the body, mind and spirit.

Aroha Kundalini Yoga, Yoga and Yoga Nidra classes are small, friendly and intimate allowing your instructor to provide individual attention that is easily maintained, achieving optimal results for all levels; absolute beginners onward.

YOGA NIDRA WITH NERINE

Dr. Nerine Gregersen is a clinical geneticist and Yoga Nidra teacher at Aroha Love. The stress response is instinctive and automatic. However, the opposite, relaxation, has to be actively pursued. Yoga Nidra is a practice of guided relaxation. This ancient yogic practice therefore provides an effective tool for dealing with the stresses of modern-day living. It induces a state of deep relaxation and is regarded as ‘sleep with awareness’. In this deeply relaxed state the natural healing powers of body and mind are accessed, releasing physical, emotional and psychological tensions, while rejuvenating the whole system.

It is said that an hour of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep. Yoga Nidra is also used to bring about personal changes and manifest new directions in one’s life. This is achieved through reinforcing a personal resolve or intention (called a sankalpa): when in a deeply relaxed state, the subconscious mind is accessible and receptive to instruction. The practice has benefits even from the first session, but the effects are cumulative. Many people experience improved sleep, relief from stress and anxiety, and a general sense of wellbeing and vitality.

The process of Yoga Nidra requires that you lie completely still in a comfortable position while a facilitator verbally guides you through a series of mental steps. The result is progressively deeper and deeper relaxation.

KUNDALINI YOGA WITH TARA ANAND KAUR

Kundalini Yoga is a deep meditation practice known as the Yoga of awareness. Tara Anand is a KRI level one certified Kundalini Yoga teacher. She has had a regular yoga practice for over twenty years. She travels to Bali and New Mexico each year to study with teachers there. She is currently doing her level two teacher training. Tara is a gong player who is currently completing her gong practitioner study under international kundalini gong master Mehtab Benton. She is also a yin yoga teacher.

KUNDALINI YOGA + GONG + CRYSTAL BOWLS WITH LIVSAHEJ KAUR AND ADI SANJEET

Kundalini Yoga – The practice of Kundalini Yoga balances the glandular system, strengthens the nervous system and enables us to harness the energy of the mind and the emotions, so we can be in control of ourselves, rather than being controlled by our thoughts and feelings.

Gong – Sacred gong has been used throughout history as a ceremonial and healing instrument. The vibration of the gong is a powerful method for reducing stress, creating an ocean of sound that is profoundly relaxing activating the parasympathetic nervous system to balance the over-amped sympathetic nervous system.

Livsahej Kaur has been practising yoga for over ten years. She was introduced to Kundalini Yoga in 2013. In 2014 she made the journey to New Mexico to train as a KRI Level One Kundalini teacher.  Currently she is in the process of completing her Level 2 teacher modules.

Adi Sanjeet Kaur is currently completing KRI level one Kundalini Yoga teacher training. Adi Sanjeet has a passion for sound. She is a gong player and is currently completing her gong practitioner study under international Kundalini Gong Master, Mehtab Benton.

KUNDALINI YOGA WITH BALDEV KAUR 

Baldev Kaur (Justina Frost) is one of the few Level 2 trained instructors of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, teaching in NZ.

She trained in the UK with Guru Dharam Singh Khalsa and Shiv Charan Singh, both students of Yogi Bhajan. In 2006, Baldev founded Corporate Karma Yoga, to offer well-being retreats and yoga in many large corporates in London.

Her classes are creative, insightful and allow a safe space to enjoy and connect with your inner self as you discover this powerful and ancient yoga of awareness. Baldev/Justina also has a passion for nutrional healing, and designs corporate wellbeing programmes using yoga and meditation to boost people's enjoyment and creativity in their workplace.

YOGA WITH LAUREN JAMES

Yang-Yin. This practice is about balancing the masculine with the feminine, the action with the relaxation, fluidity and stillness. The first half of class will be vinyasa style yoga, the second half will be dedicated to yin.

Lauren is a senior leader in the corporate world, a yoga teacher and heart centred performance/ divine feminine coach. She works with driven people to achieve their goals in a way that results in less push and stress, better results and in a sustainable way without burning out in the process. Trained in vinyasa and yin yoga, an Art of Feminine Presence teacher and Beautiful You Academy life coach, Lauren uses her strong creativity and sense of adventure to tune into you and create a uniquely tailored, sacred yoga and life experience to shift you into a feminine way of being and achieving for quick and lasting results where you feel more like yourself than ever before. *Lauren’s class is a booking only class and will only run if there are bookings.
